Bronx, NY – After an extended advocacy effort from Council Member Cohen and Assemblyman Dinowitz, Mayor Bill de Blasio has agreed to suspend alternate-side parking enforcement until Tuesday, March 24, 2020 and to reevaluate a long-term suspension during the next week. This should come as welcome relief to many New Yorkers, especially around the Riverdale area where parents and faculty at SAR have been self-quarantined since March 3, even as concerns about already-received alternate-side parking tickets persist.

Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz and Council Member Andrew Cohen issued the following statement: “We are facing a nearly unprecedented global health crisis with a domestic epicenter in our very own backyard. Amid the larger conversation about schools, employment, healthcare, and more – people should not have to worry about where they are storing their cars. This is a time when we should be focused instead on taking care of ourselves, protecting others, and making sure that our city comes together to get through the coronavirus pandemic.
