Jensen Reacts to One House Budget

A Statement from Assemblyman Josh Jensen (R,C-Greece)

“The Assembly’s One-House Budget is a confounding response to the governor’s budget proposal. While it included some common-sense measures, excluding ill-thought-out actions by the governor, there is still work to be done to ensure we have an enacted budget that meets the needs of all New Yorkers and serves as an efficient and effective use of taxpayer dollars.

“I stand in support of the efforts to push for increased Medicaid reimbursement for our healthcare system, yet we need to greater prioritize funding to our nursing homes and provide assistance to clear the patient backlogs that are clogging up emergency rooms and hospital beds, and exclusion of funding for home health care is an error when so many in our community need access to care in an appropriate setting. I am excited to see the state prioritize increased funding for Early Intervention so kids who need services receive them, as well as moving forward with universal free school meals to make certain no child will be hungry in the classroom.

“I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues, regardless of party, over the next two weeks to hopefully enact a state budget that respects taxpayers and provides for government service that is needed.”
