Jensen: Budget Dysfunction and Calling for All Budget Bills to Age

Assemblyman Josh Jensen (R,C-Greece) joined fellow Assembly Members and Senate Minority colleagues yesterday for a press conference regarding the use of messages of necessity for budget bills.

“The budget is now 26 days late and there has been a stunning lack of transparency throughout this process. Each member of the Assembly and Senate deserve the statutory three-day review period to evaluate the $230 billion taxpayer spending plan. Once there is an agreement on the budget, there’s no reason to rush at this point; let’s allow lawmakers time to review and gather input from their constituents on if this budget is the best path forward or not.

Just because this entire budget has been negotiated in secrecy doesn’t mean lawmakers and all New Yorkers shouldn’t have the opportunity to learn exactly how their tax dollars will be spent,” said Jensen.
