Brabenec Stands with Local Labor to Protect Jobs & Prevailing Wage

Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) stood with Sen. Terrence Murphy (R-Yorktown), Assemblyman Harry Bronson (D-Rochester) and union leaders this week in Albany to close a dangerous loophole that prevents publicly funded construction projects from paying the prevailing wage to workers. The legislation was included in the Assembly One-House Budget Resolution that was passed Wednesday.

“Protecting local labor rights and ensuring that those who perform honest work are paid fairly is critical to our area’s economy and to families trying to put food on the table,” Brabenec said. “We joined forces with local labor leaders and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle this week to close a loophole preventing union workers from making the prevailing wage, and I am hopeful we can include protections like these in our enacted state budget due April 1.”
