Assemblymember Wallace Secures $25,000 for Cheektowaga Youth Baseball
Assemblymember Wallace continues to support local youth sports by securing funding to purchase team equipment, uniforms
Today, Assemblymember Monica Wallace (D-Lancaster) announced that she had secured $25,000 for Cheektowaga Youth Baseball for equipment and uniforms for the young athletes. Cheektowaga Youth Baseball serves boys and girls from ages three to 19 in a season that lasts from mid-April to mid-July.
“Supporting youth sports and improving young people’s access to sports has been long been one of my top priorities. Research is clear that individuals who play sports while growing up reap numerous physical, social, developmental, and even academic benefits throughout their lifetimes,” said Assemblymember Wallace. “It’s my pleasure to have secured funding to support Cheektowaga Youth Baseball and help ensure they can continue to serve the youth of our community.”
"With this state funding going towards uniforms and equipment, we will finally be able to allocate other additional funds to some field and facilities repair and update projects," said Cheektowaga Youth Baseball President Dave Camp. “We thank Assemblymember Wallace for supporting Cheektowaga Youth Baseball and for her commitment to youth sports.”
Assemblymember Wallace has a long track record of supporting youth sports programs in her community. She has secured $350,000 toward the opening of the new Cheektowaga Boys & Girls Club, $25,000 for the Town of Cheektowaga Youth and Recreation, and funding for numerous park amenities, including new splash pads in the villages of Sloan and Lancaster, an all-inclusive playground in Stiglmeier Park, and resurfaced ball courts in Griffith Park. She also successfully advocated for budget provisions to allocate $5 million of the revenue from mobile sports betting to support youth sports programs.
