Assemblymember Wallace Hosts Sold Out Concert Honoring Area Veterans

Assemblymember Monica Wallace (D-Lancaster) hosted a concert Monday night at the Leonard Post VFW on Walden Avenue to honor area veterans and their families for their service and commitment to the United States. Over 300 veterans and family members attended the sold out concert, which included dinner service and featured a patriotic performance by the Divas Show Band. The event was funded by a grant Wallace secured through the New York State Office for the Aging.

“Our country owes a debt of gratitude to the men and women who bravely fought to protect it,” said Assemblymember Wallace. “Working with the Cheektowaga Senior Center, we were able to put together this event to show veterans from multiple generations our appreciation for them. It was rewarding to see so many members of our local veteran community at the Leonard Post enjoying an evening in which they were honored for their service.”

Following dinner and prior to the Divas Show Band taking the stage, veterans of each branch of the military who were present were recognized for their service with the playing of each branch’s hymn.

Assemblymember Wallace serves on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee in the state Assembly, and has sponsored several pieces of legislation to assist and honor veterans and their families.
