New York, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D, WF-Flushing) gathered with women city, state and federal elected officials, community leaders and members, at the steps of City Hall to call on the New York City Council to allow a vote on the paid sick days bill, which has been awaiting action on the City Council floor for more than 1000 days.

The sick days bill allows workers to earn five paid sick days a year, so that they can recover from an illness, seek preventative care, or care for an ill family member. Businesses with fewer than five employees would be exempt from the requirement, and would only have to provide five unpaid but job protected sick days.

Assemblywoman Rozic said, “For far too many New Yorkers, a day home from work means a day without pay – a choice they shouldn’t have to make. We need common sense work-family policies so that no one has to decide between being a good worker and a good family member.”
