Rozic Partners with P.S. 31 to “Dig Into Reading”
School launches this year’s New York State Assembly 2013 Summer Reading Challenge
Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) is partnering with P.S. 31 in Bayside to promote a reading program that will be fun and educational for children. This year’s program theme is “Dig Into Reading” and will allow students to have an exciting way to be engaged in reading even though school is not in session.
Assemblywoman Rozic said, “Reading is extremely important to learning and it should not stop when the summer vacation begins. I am proud to partner with P.S. 31 to bring a reading program that is rewarding. As everyone is traveling on the road, hitting the beach, or enjoying a day at the park, there is no greater companion than a book. Reading is a fun activity for the whole entire family and I encourage every student to participate in this years’ summer reading challenge.”
To participate in the program, students must read by themselves or with a partner for a minimum of 15 minutes every day for at least 40 days throughout the months of July and August. The days can be marked off on a provided calendar and submitted to Rozic’s office. Those who participate will be awarded a New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate. If there are any questions about the program, please contact Assemblywoman Nily Rozic’s office at 718-820-0241.
