QUEENS – Today, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D, WF-Flushing) gathered with federal, state and city women elected officials, community leaders and organizations at City Hall to call for a vote on the paid sick days bill that has been awaiting action in the New York City Council for more than 1000 days.

Assemblywoman Rozic said, “For far too many New Yorkers, a day home from work means a day without pay--a choice they shouldn’t have to make. We need common sense work-family policies so that no one has to decide between being a good worker and a good family member.”

The paid sick days bill would allow workers to earn five paid sick days a year, so that they could recover from an illness, seek preventative care, or care for an ill family member. Businesses with fewer than five employees would be exempt from the requirement, and would only have to provide five unpaid but job protected sick days.
