Assemblyman Pirozzolo Sworn into Legislature, Ready to Get to Work

Today in front of friends and family, Assemblyman Sam Pirozzolo (R, C-Staten Island) was sworn in as the new representative of the 63rd Assembly District in Albany. His ceremony was administered by the Honorable James Walsh in the Legislative Office Building with other newly elected Assembly Minority Conference members. Nestled in the heart of Staten Island, the 63rd Assembly District encompasses Mid Island and parts of the North Shore, including Emerson Hill, Sunnyside, Bloomfield, Travis, and Chelsea.

“I am excited, energized and can’t wait to get to work on behalf of the people of our community,” said Pirozzolo. “Now more than ever New York needs strong fighters in Albany who will stand up for the people of Staten Island and our values. As the session begins, I plan to hold our legislators in Albany to a higher standard by pushing for the repeal of dangerous bail reform laws. I will put our students first by advocating for our public schools so that they get their fair share from Albany, and I will fight to put parents in control of their child's education. I will also fight to protect animal rights by working to prohibit kill shelters, expanding no-cost spay/neuter services and making our parks more pet friendly.”

Sam was appointed by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay to serve on the Aging, Children and Families, Corporations, Authorities and Commissions, Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry, and Education committees.
