“The attack by an inmate on a correction officer in Rensselaer County Jail this week is an unfortunate reality caused by ill-advised policies implemented by Albany. Correction officers across the state are struggling to efficiently perform their jobs and go back home to their families and loved ones after their shifts. What happened this week is happening all too often across New York state,” said Bendett. “I hope state and local lawmakers in New York and beyond will take this incident seriously and work to protect the first responders who risk their lives every day protecting us.”
