Pheffer Amato Presents Summer Reading Awards
South Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) presented the Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate to students at several schools to congratulate them on successfully participating in the 2022 Summer Reading Challenge. In her Summer Reading Program, Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato sent pamphlets to schools across the 23rd Assembly District which challenged the students to incorporate reading into their daily routine over summer vacation in order to win the award. The challenge was to read a book for a minimum of 15 minutes a day for at least 40 days during July and August. Over 200 students from schools across the district participated and sent in their pamphlets with days marked or checked off.
The Assemblywoman addressed students, parents and faculty at numerous ceremonies and remarked how “reading gives our students an opportunity to open the world - bringing new thoughts and ideas to the forefront. I’m so proud of each of the students who completed this challenge as they’ve taken that first step to become lifelong readers,” said Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato.
