Pheffer Amato Brings New York State Hearing on LIPA & PSEG to Rockaway Peninsula

South Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) along with other representatives of the Legislative Commission on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, December 15 at the Rockaway YMCA, starting at 10am. Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato, who was appointed to the highly coveted commission, is bringing the opportunity for the public to speak on LIPA and PSEG. “Too often our community is overlooked and forgotten but I have secured us a seat at the table and hope all of you will pull up a chair. This is our chance to stand up and make our voices heard and give our input on LIPA and PSEG,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato.

The public is encouraged to attend and speak about their experiences with LIPA and PSEG. “The Commission wants to hear from everyone,” said Pheffer Amato. The goal of the hearing is to gather testimony from the public which will then help the Commission craft reforms that LIPA, and its subsidies like PSEG, would respond to in the areas of transparency, overall operations, electrical rates, storm response, while also deciding the future of LIPA, along with PSEG which provides electricity on the Rockaway Peninsula. “By hearing from residents, community civic groups and members, small business owners and everyone who is a customer of LIPA and PSEG, we can incorporate their ideas towards making the needed changes to get us the electrical provider we deserve,” said Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato. The Commission, which took testimony from Nassau County residents on November 29, will also take testimony from those in Suffolk County on December 16.
