Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato Announces Tax Help at Public Library
Queens, NY – New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato is encouraging local residents to make an appointment and utilize the free tax help available at the Howard Beach Library. The Assemblywoman worked with Queens Public Library to secure that every Wednesday, starting now till April 10, from 10:15am-3:00pm, tax-aides from AARP will be able to provide free tax preparation. The program is set up for those 50 years and older and an appointment is needed.
“I greatly appreciate the Queens Public Library, and AARP, for working together and bringing this service to our community. No one likes paying taxes and this type of assistance makes a complicated and sometimes overwhelming process manageable. We have brought in trained experts who are ready to help, and I know this will be a benefit to those who need it,” said the Assemblywoman.
For those interested in making an appointment, call 718-641-7086. It is also recommended that a person should bring a picture ID, copy of last year's returns (if you filed), income documents like W-2 or 1099, medical or dental expenses, mortgage interest statements like STAR, and any other financial record.
