Pheffer Amato Throws First Pitch for American Softball
Ozone Park, NY – New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato threw out the first pitch at the opening game of American Softball at Vito Lacascio Field, officially opening the 2024 softball season. Going on its 12th year, American Softball has served men and women from ages 15 to over 70 years old throughout NYC with developmental disabilities by giving them the opportunity to play softball.
The Assemblywoman has continued to be one of the largest supporters of American Softball since first elected in 2017. Coach Randy Novick noted that through Pheffer Amato’s allocation of State funds, over 120 individuals with disabilities have been given scholarships- ensuring that the players get to enjoy this experience.
“This is an important program and I have to thank Randy, Tina and all the amazing volunteers who dedicate themselves to the players. This heartwarming program allows individuals with disabilities to have this special opportunity to make friends and see how much their community supports them. This is just one of the things that make our district so great,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato.
