South Queens, NY – New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato announced that the “Free Summer Meals” program has once again begun. There are several locations in the 23rd Assembly District where those 18 years old and younger can get a free meal starting June 27 through August 30.

“This is a great program to guarantee that all our children have the opportunity to grab a meal,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato. “For years I have worked to fight food insecurity, and last year I was successful in implementing free school meals across our State - because no child should ever be hungry! That mission continues over the summer, even when school is not in session, which is why I want the families in our community to know and use this free opportunity.”

Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato ensured that the locations in her district would be open for breakfast, which one can get on weekdays between 8am-9:15am, and lunch which is served from 11am to 1:15pm. She also guaranteed that Halal options are available. Meals are provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Office of Food & Nutrition Services, a part of the New York City Department of Education.
