Union Contracts and Benefits Signed into Law Through Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato Legislation
South Queens, NY – New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato had 4 bills ratified through both the State Assembly and State Senate, and then recently signed into law to enact union contracts, including salary increases, for hardworking governmental employees. The benefits from a new contract will impact:
- Agency Police Services Unit (APSU), including those who work as university police officers and investigators, environmental conservation officers and investigators, park patrol officers, and forest rangers (A.10525)
- New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA) (A.10526)
- Security Supervisors Unit (SSU), including supervisory security personnel including correction lieutenant, security hospital supervising treatment assistant, chief safety and security officers (A.10527)
- Rent Regulation Services Unit (RRSU), such as rent examiners and inspectors, office assistant, and attorneys and assist in the administration of New York City rent control and stabilization (A.10528)
Through these bills, Pheffer Amato ensured employees who work in these roles would receive a salary increase and defined health benefits, as would their families. Due to preexisting statutes, these contracts were required to go through the full legislative process, including being voted on by the full State Legislature. Three (3) of the bills focused on benefiting law enforcement officers and public safety workers, including workers like NYS Correctional Officers, NYS Parks Police and University Police, and hospital security officers. The package also authorized the contract for those who work as NYC rent examiners and inspectors.
“Governmental employees keep our State moving forward. By introducing and passing legislation that solidified the union contracts for correctional officers, certain police officers, security officers, along with those who administer rent control and stabilization, these workers and their families will get the benefits they deserve, while New Yorkers get the protection and service they deserve,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato.
