Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato Brings Requested Services to Community

South Queens, NY – New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato brought two of the most frequently requested services that her office receives calls about to the community last week. The Assemblywoman hosted the always popular MTA MetroCard bus for seniors and those with disabilities to obtain discounted fares, and a heavily sought after paper shredding van.

The MetroCard bus, which provides services that are not readily available, was packed full of residents from Howard Beach and Ozone Park for the 4 hours it was stationed outside Food Emporium. The bus is a one-stop-shop for all MTA-related needs and was used to obtain or refill Senior or Disability Reduced Fare MetroCards, transfer balances, and get answers to questions about services provided by the MTA. Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato brings the bus to the community several times a year, as the bus will be back in front of Food Emporium on October 29th at 10am-2pm.

Meanwhile, the Assemblywoman joined together with Senator Joe Addabbo and Senator Roxanne Persaud to bring a paper shredding van to the community, also known as “Shredfest”. Cars lined up around the block at St. Helen’s Church as neighbors dropped off boxes, bags, and in some cases cartons of paper to be safely shredded. Several people stayed to watch the van shred their papers and were impressed by how their papers and documents were shredded right there on the scene. At the end of the 2 hours, the paper shredding van was completely full.

“My office gets requests for these two events all year long: whether it's about being able to obtain the benefits you're entitled to through the MTA, or people wanting to make sure documents with their personal information are properly destroyed. I will always listen to the needs of my constituents and will bring the vital service they ask for to our community,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato.
