Pheffer Amato Attends Ladies Luncheon, Reflects on Hundred Years of Suffrage in New York State
This past Saturday, March 11th, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Rockaway) attended the Women’s Executive Committee of Queens County’s Ladies Luncheon, at Antun’s Catering in Queens Village. The event marked the hundred-year anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York State.
“We have a history of strong woman leaders in Queens, as our Chair Joseph Crowley reminded everyone,” said Pheffer Amato. “Maybe, some day, the rest of country can catch up. Women have central roles in our leadership, from our excellent County Executive on down. I learned about strong women in leadership from my mother, who was an Assemblywoman herself.
“There’s still much work to be done. This yearly luncheon reminds us how far we’ve come and allows us to plan for the future, to conspire, to work together and to make sure our daughters inherit a world that’s still moving forward. I am honored to be a part of this Queens-wide legacy and will do my best to carry it forward.”
