Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato today honored her first NYS Assembly Intern, Alanna Hepburn, with a citation for her dedication and hard work throughout the 2017 Legislative Session.

Hepburn, a Bronx native and senior at John Jay College of Criminal Justice majoring in Criminal Justice Management and Minoring in English and Dispute Resolution, started the Assembly Internship program with significant community experience. Formerly, Hepburn had been a Youth Peer Educator at Harlem Dowling West Side Center, a part-time Operations Assistant at Harlem Renaissance Economic Development Corporation, and a former intern to Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner. Hepburn has gained an impressive amount of aptitude and facility with the legislative process through her experience in the Internship, helping with bill research, drafting of memos and even coordinating Albany scheduling.

"Alanna jumped right in, and has made my tenure as a Freshman more navigable and more powerful. She has the drive and dedication that all students should strive for," said Pheffer Amato. "I am thrilled to honor Alanna today with an Assembly citation, and to thank her for being such a valuable asset to our community and to our office. I cannot wait to see her succeed in all of her future endeavors."
