Pheffer Amato at Nativity Golden Age for Memorial Day Party
This past Thursday, May 18th, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Ozone Park) joined seniors at the Nativity Golden Age monthly meetup group at the Nativity-Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Ozone Park for their annual Memorial Day party. Over a rousing game of bingo, Pheffer Amato, who last visited the Nativity Golden Age group for St. Patrick’s Day, connected with old friends, saw some new faces and expressed admiration for the freewheeling, vivacious spirit of the group.
“These folks are a hoot, and they also make you think,” said Pheffer Amato. “We talked about some real issues – healthcare funding is a big one, as is support for home care aides and transportation. They just don’t hold back, and I love and appreciate that so much.
“Everyone was excited about the extra funding we got this year for home care workers,” she continued, “and most folks were a little concerned what the future of care would look like. Everyone had an opinion, sometimes two opinions. But it was a blast as always. I want to thank the incredible staff at Nativity, the indomitable seniors that make this group so much fun, and everyone who came out on Thursday.”
