Pheffer Amato Connects and Plans with Elected Officials, Education Leaders at Chancellor Fariña Meet-and-Greet
This past Thursday, August 17th at NYC Department of Education Headquarters in Queens, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Rockaway Beach) connected with superintendents, top-level Department of Education staff and other education leaders, as well as other elected officials, including State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., from South Queens. The event was orchestrated by NYC Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña, whose policy agenda includes synergy between different parts of the DOE, local business communities and nearby colleges, as a way to start conversations about connecting and moving forward.
“I think Chancellor Fariña has it exactly right,” said Pheffer Amato. “In my district, we know the power of the community pulling together to respond to challenges, and she comes up with such great ways to foster that coordination. I really appreciated the opportunity to connect as an education community, and I’m sure this will be the first of many such meetings!”
