Pheffer Amato Helps Open Q-Center in Long Island City
Long Island City, Queens- Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato this past week helped open the new Queens LGBT Community Center (Q-Center) in Long Island City, Queens. Founded by David Kilmnick, the LGBT Network has been serving Long Island for over 24 years as an association of non-profit organizations encompassing: Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY), The Long Island LGBT Community Center (The Center), Services and Advocacy for LGBT Elders – Long Island (SAGE-LI). The mission of the newly minted Q-Center is to aid underserved communities through dynamic programming. Additionally the Q-Center allows the Network to expand its operations and provide important services such as anti-bullying and community education workshops that have had over 2,100 participants.
