Pheffer Amato, Addabbo, DEP to Host Annual Rain Barrel Giveaway
Broad Channel, Queens – Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Broad Channel), Senator Addabbo (D- Howard Beach), and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be giving away free rain barrels on Sunday May 20th, 2018 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the American Legion Post 1404, at 209 Cross Bay Blvd., in Broad Channel.
Rain barrels are designed to help catch excess rain water, which can later be reused for simple household tasks, such as watering plants or washing cars.
“Rain barrels are one of those amazing free resources you don't want to miss out on,” said Pheffer Amato. “By having a rain barrel you can save money on your water bill whenever you wash your car or water your lawn and can also help to preserve water in general. It is such a pleasure doing these events with Senator Addabbo and the folks from DEP- I look forward to seeing everyone on May 20th!”
"I always enjoy working with Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato's office and DEP on these great rain barrel giveaways," Addabbo said. "Rain barrels are an eco-friendly way for residents to capture and store rain water to be used in everyday chores, and save some money on their water bill in the process. These events have been extremely popular in our district, so please register and come down on May 20th for your free rain barrel."
