Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) this past Friday May 11th joined Judge Hirsch and the Queens Treatment Court staff in celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its drug treatment court. According to the NYC Courts website there are nine drug courts in New York City. Drug courts were created as a partnership between the Courts, prosecutors, law enforcement, defense bar and treatment and education providers. Each drug court places non-violent, drug-addicted offenders into treatment in an effort to break the cycle of drug abuse, addiction, crime and jail.
