Pheffer Amato Secures Crossing Guard for Cornaga Ave & Beach 9th

Far Rockaway, Queens – Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Far Rockaway) announced today that, in response to a letter, and a walkthrough by her office, NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill has announced that a crossing guard will be assigned to the intersection of Cornaga Avenue and Beach 9th in Far Rockaway, Queens, which is crossed by hundreds of students and parents every day on their way to schools.

“This is a great victory not only for the overall public safety of our community, but for our students, and parents,” said Pheffer Amato. “I want to thank the community for bringing this to my attention; and of course of course Commissioner O’Neill, for recognizing the importance of staffing this intersection. I applaud the NYPD for their responsiveness and proactivity!”

The full letter is enclosed. Pheffer Amato highlighted the following paragraph: “Currently, the 101st Precinct has been allocated 18 Crossing Guards and all the posts are filled. Since you forwarded your letter, the location you cited is currently staffed on a daily basis. Please know that he School Crossing Guard Coordinator in the 101 Precinct actively recruits School Crossing Guard applicants in anticipation of future needs of the precinct.”
