Pheffer Amato Condemns Co-Op Board over Food Delivery Withholding: “Release this Food!”

Rockaway Beach, New York – Today, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Rockaway Beach), issued a statement regarding the Mitchell-Lama Dayton Beach Park Co-Op Board of Directors (DBP) decision to withhold city-sponsored, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) distributed vital food deliveries from senior citizens in their buildings.

“At a time where we need to be protecting and looking out for our most vulnerable citizens, our seniors, the DBP decision to withhold food deliveries from senior citizens is unthinkable and appalling. Right now, there is fresh food waiting to be delivered while many New Yorkers are unable to leave their homes to go to a grocery store, and the board has declined and denied the delivery. I have been working with the Commissioner of HPD to come to a solution ensuring that the senior citizens in DBP get the food they need. I can’t believe I have to say this, but to the DBP Co-Op Board: You must release this food to the hundreds of senior citizens living in the DBP complex.”
