Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato Congratulates Breezy Point Cooperative, Inc., in Conjunction with New York Blood Center, for Community Blood Drive in Breezy Point

Breezy Point, New York On Sunday, July 19, 2020, Breezy Point Cooperative, Inc hosted its third blood drive since the start of the current COVID-19 pandemic resulting in 54 lifesaving donations. According to the New York Blood Center (NYBC), these 54 pints of blood will result in helping save or positively impact 162 lives. Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Breezy Point) is proud to have supported this lifesaving effort with both the cooperative and NYBC in Breezy Point, Queens.

This would not have been possible without the support of the Co-op Board and Theresa Flanigan, Events Coordinator.

“Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there has been an increased need for blood donation nationwide” Pheffer Amato said. “I was happy to promote this important event for the Breezy Point community to support this lifesaving cause. As always, South Queens continues to step up in times of need for patients who need it most.”

This blood drive brings the cooperative’s total contributions since March 2020 to 245 donations for the community blood supply. With each donation affecting three lives, this effort has touched more than 735 patients in need. Pheffer Amato applauds this great effort and plans to host blood drives in her district over the next several months. Locations and dates are to be determined.
