Pheffer Amato Participates in Port Authority Sustainability Mini Camp

Rockaway Beach, Queens This past Monday, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Rockaway Beach) gave closing remarks at the Port Authority of NY & NJ’s Sustainability Mini Camp online. The camp was held from Monday, August 17 through Monday, August 24 for students going into 6th-8th grades. The students learned about climate change, transportation, renewable energy, and sustainability at JFK and LGA airports, along with green careers. Pheffer Amato was invited to give remarks as Chair of the JFK Redevelopment Environmental Stewardship Committee and encouraged the students to think “green”.

“It was great to speak to our students about the role that our local airports play in our community and environment- especially since JFK is right in our backyard,” Pheffer Amato said. “Teaching our children about sustainability and protecting the environment is so vital to developing the next generation of climate conscious citizens and leaders. I was honored to speak with them, and I want to thank the Port Authority and the entire JFK Redevelopment team for putting this great camp together.”
