Pheffer Amato Announces Free Mammogram Screenings for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
South Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) announced that she will be hosting two free mammogram screening events in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The first event will take place on Wednesday, October 13 from 9:00am to 4:30pm at the Ozone Park Library, 92-24 Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park. The second will be on Wednesday, November 10 from 9:00am to 4:30pm at Peninsula Public Library, 92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd in Rockaway Beach.
“Getting screened for breast cancer is so important, and can truly save lives,” Pheffer Amato said. “Early detection of this disease can lead to much better outcomes, which is why I’m happy to partner with the American Italian Cancer Foundation to ensure that more women can get screened. I encourage as many women as possible to attend these events to get screened and take control of your health.”
Registration in advance is required and walk-ins will not be permitted with September 22nd as the cutoff for the Ozone Park screening. Anyone hoping to get screened must be 40-50 with health insurance, 50-79 without health insurance, and currently living in New York City. For eligibility, you cannot have gotten a mammogram within the last 12 months. To register, please call 718-945-9550 or email amatos@nyassembly.gov.
