Assemblymember Grace Lee’s Statement on Re-Raising of the Pride Flag at Stonewall National Monument
“The Trump administration’s decision to remove the pride flag at Stonewall National Monument was a blatant attempt to erase LGBTQIA+ history. The flag, which should have never been taken down, will fly again.
Let us be clear: this reversal did not come from a change of heart. It came because we stood up, organized, and fought back. I am grateful to the Gilbert Baker Foundation, and to all of the organizations that took the Trump administration to court to make this happen. I was proud to stand with them to demand this restoration, and I am even prouder to see the flag flying high once again.
This fight is far from over. As attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community continue, we will keep organizing and fighting to ensure all New Yorkers are protected.”
