Years of weathering and settling have caused many of the stained glass windows and their leaded frames along the north and south walls of the Assembly Chamber to become chipped and broken. Studies are underway to determine how best to restore these windows before any more damage occurs. Plans are also being made to refit the opaque portions at the bottom of these windows with panes of clear glass. This will allow more natural light into the Chamber, which was the original intent.
